Starting Thursday, June 5th 2014, the Commemorative Air Force had the lone remaining air worthy B 29 as well as a T6 Trainer on display as well as a number of other World War II Air Craft on display at Mather field. On Friday the 6th of June, on the 70th anniversary of "D" day, I was fortunate to visit this wonderful display of air craft from the past. Check out this little video I put together on this display!
As you know, Carol and I are always happy to be able to check out any history about "The Greatest Generation". When we are able to travel the country upon our retirement, we are going to want to check out many museums, including traveling ones such as this.

Bye Lily
It is with great sadness that we report that we lost a very special member of our family last night. At 10:20 PM last night, we had to put Lily "Pooshin" Anderson to rest. Lily has been part of our life for over 12 years now, and her spirit will be in our lives for some years to come, just as those who have been in our family before and proceeded her across the Rainbow Bridge.
Lily left us in the same city that she came to us basically, Sacramento. We purchased her from a breeder 12 years ago and she has experienced much of Carol's and my 16 years of life together. She has been through every home with us together and always been an extremely important member of our family. We've had other Boxers Hannah, and Tyson who have passed before her. All of them have been special in their own ways, each individuals with their little traits that make us laugh or make us cry and every one of them hold a very special place in our hearts. Lily was something special though. Most boxers don't live past the age of 8 or 9, but with the help of Dr's Port, Wong and McKai of the Sacramento veterinary referral center her in Sacramento, Lily beat the odds the last four years of her life.. Despite her 3" medical file that would give the impression that she had a very rough life, she always went through life with a twinkle in her eye and a wagging of that longer than average, but none the less docked, Boxer tail.
For myself, I will always remember how much she loves us. She was always happy to see us when we would come home, which for a dog, that is nothing un-usual. Lily's special something with me though was that she always wanted to clean my ears, sometimes after cleaning profusely, some un-desirable body part of her own. I've felt bad for her the last year or so, as she has lost weight, but we've known for sometime that something was going on with her. Because of her Severe heart disease, she has never been a surgical case but for over the last couple years, we've known that her digestive functions haven't been right. The type of food that seemed to agree best with her was canned dog food. She seemed to digest it alright, but between that and other things like maybe a tumor that was going on inside of her, we just couldn't put weight on her.
Over the last week or so, she has been fighting a bladder infection. Though her appetite seemed ok, she seemed to struggle lately to finish all of the food we put out for her. Last night when we put her down, she had gotten to a point where she couldn't breath and she couldn't find a position to lie down to get comfortable. Though her tail was still wagging, her eye's were telling us she was sad, and that it was time to go.
She leaves behind more love than anyone can imagine. And though a loss of a great loving dog like Lily is so very hard, her spirit will always be with all of us that had the honor to know her. Run free little "Pooshin Pup" run free! We love you and we always will! Tell Papa Calvin, Roxy, Hanna, Tyson and all of the rest, "We will see you on the other side!"

Sandy's 70th Birthday
In late March we took the motorhome up to Gold Country Camp ground and joined Carols family in helping Sandy (Carol's sister) celebrate Sandy's 70th birthday. We joined a number of the family and friends for a less than impressive dinner at the St. George hotel. It was a nice evening, the food was ok, but the service was sad. Sandy thought that Friday evening was the extent of it.
What Sandy didn't realize was that there was a surprise birthday party planned for Sandy that would happen on Saturday afternoon! Check out the video of Sandy's surprise party below.
Also, we are joined by another family member in full timing. Carol's niece Brandee and her husband Kevin are full timing, with their three dogs. Their home base is at the Gold Country RV resort in Pine Grove, California!
There rig is a little more humble than ours, but for those of you that full time like we do, you know it is not the size of the rig that matters, but the amount of love that fills it!

Out in the motorhome FINALLY!
Well, the winter usually leads to a reduction in our ability to get out in the motorhome, and this year is no different. The last time we were able to get out in the Motorhome, was in November when we went to Marq and Stephanie wedding. Just because we haven't been out in the motorhome, it doesn't mean that we haven't been enjoying our life in the motorhome and striving to make it better at all times. We absolutely have!
During the winter months we have relocated the TV in the living room area. We have also built an Ottoman to improve the enjoyment of our TV experience as well as improve storage in the motorhome. Also, we've replace the TV in the Bedroom of the motorhome. And, on top of all this, we are saving our selves 80 dollars a month by cancelling our Cable subscription. Once we bought our selves a DVR, we find we don't miss Cable at all!
This weekend, we joined Eric's sister Karen and her husband Mike in Red Bluff at one of our favorite RV parks, Durango RV Resort. In getting together with Karen and Mike, we all celebrated Mikes birthday! We bought him a new Digital TV antenna to improve the number of channels they would get over the air. Also, we bought our selves one as well to improve our signal as well by getting our selves a new antenna as well.

Some of our spare time volunteering
Hi there everyone,
As we have eluded to in our previous posts, we are both very involved with a Pit Bull Rescue here in the Sacramento Area. The organization by the name of Chako is very involved with two of the local animal shelters in the Sacramento area. Chako has volunteers that go on a daily basis to work with shelter dogs.
On occasions, volunteers come across dogs that are special in some way. The following video is about Oreo who was saved by Chako from the Sacramento SPCA. Oreo was on the Euthanasia list because of the fact that she was born blind in both eyes.
Because of the love and dedication of Chako volunteers, Oreo was taken care of and placed in a wonderful home in the Bay area.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
You know, as we get older, time does appear to fly past us. But also, with both of us being so heavily involved with Pit Bull rescue here in Sacramento, our time does seem to be gobbled up there as well. Also, Eric seems to always have a home improvement project coming along that he needs to take care of. And, this holiday season is no different.
For Christmas, we stayed pretty close to home. Doing so allows us to be close to much of our family, and it also cuts down on the wear and tear caused by our dogs on other peoples lives! Once again, this holiday season was very good to us. On Christmas eve, we were able to get together at Sandy and Bill's for the annual holiday gift exchange where everyone brings a gift and then we get to exchange and steal from one another three times! This event is always a lot of fun.
On Christmas day, we were fortunate that Katie and Russell were able to come visit with us and enjoy some Christmas dinner. As always, Santa was good to all of us. Katie and Russ got a new printer. And the two of us got a new TV set for the bedroom and a DVR which will record off the antenna.
As a side bonus to all of this, we cut the cable. We are now watching all of our TV from off the air. We are saving our selves almost $90 a month by not using cable any more. Yes, we did buy ourselves a DVR, but with just 3 months without cable, we will have paid for the DVR with our monthly savings.
We've been without cable actually two weeks now. And though we do have a couple of favorite shows we are missing, all-in-all, we don't miss Cable TV much at all.
We are planning on going out of town for Eric's birthday weekend, so we may not have much of an update until then, but we will try to do a better job of keeping you posted!

Thanksgiving 2013
Hi there everyone,
Well, tail end of November snuck past us in a blur! After the wedding of Marq and Stephanie, we started to ramp up for Thanksgiving events. We started our Thanksgiving early with a get together with a camera shy Katie and Russ as they came over for an early Thanksgiving dinner on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Once again we prepared a 12 pound bird in the convection oven that came out perfect!
Later in the week, we went to Ashland Oregon to enjoy Thanksgiving with Eric's sister and brother-in-law. On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Eric took the day off to run some shopping errands. He even took a few moments to clean the living room carpet in the Motorhome so that it would have the long weekend to dry! At 1:30 however, Eric packed up the dogs in the car and headed over to Carol's office at CAL-FIRE to pick her up and get headed up to Mike and Karen's in Ashland. This trip, taken without the Moho, still included the three dogs, Lilly, Rosie and Charlie!
We made a quick stop at Granzella's in Williams to pick up some sour dough bread and then again a stop for dinner in Redding to enjoy dinner at Applebee's which has become almost a right of passage, when ever we head up to Ashland for a visit. Thursday Thanksgiving day, we were able to enjoy a wonderful day with Karen and Mike preparing for Thanksgiving dinner. Thanksgiving dinner, as always, was a wonderful affair having Mike's brother Chuck and his wife Teri joining us for a delicious Thanksgiving Ham. As is typical, we all ate way too much! :-)
On (Black) Friday, we pursued a couple of ad items that we had read about, but came up empty. None of us are the type to hang out starting at 2:00 AM looking for a great plunder. So we headed out Mid-morning to see what we could find. None of the items we were looking for were any longer available, but we did score a good deal on a flat panel TV set for the bedroom. We've been looking to replace that TV for a while, but we weren't in any hurry. Now, however, that deed is done. Stay tuned for some future blog posts about how that upgrade goes!
Friday evening, we went with Karen and Mike to downtown Ashland to see the Santa Parade and the lighting of the Tree in the town square. Though it might be described by some as being Hokey, it was a lot of fun.
We had one little frustration this holiday weekend. We had left Rosie alone in Karen and Mikes motorhome on Friday evening and Rosie just could not handle the separation. She became frantic and worked to escape the Motorhome in an effort to find us. In the process, she destroyed a mini blind in their rig, which now we are going to be replacing.
Some good news that we got this weekend is that as we move into 2014, Kris and her partner Laura, will be getting married in Connecticut, probably sometime in August. Though we won't be able to take the Moho on that trip, we most definitely will be there! All in all, our Thanksgiving was a wonderful one, and it enabled us to get together with family members once again and enjoy some good times.
